My newest short story, “In the Blood,” is out at Beneath Ceaseless Skies!
“In the Blood” is the sixth (or seventh, depending on how you count) in a loosely connected series of short stories I’ve been working on since 2006 or so, when the first one — “Wizard’s Six” — came out in F&SF. (Edit: I checked and it came out in 2007, but I started writing it in 2005.) That’s pretty unusual for me.* Usually when I get a story done, I don’t ever want to see those people again. But this world has called me back to it several times, and I have more stories planned. The ultimate goal is to weave them all together into a Viriconium-style mosaic. Four or five more, I think, and it’ll be ready.
This is my first appearance at Beneath Ceaseless Skies, where I have enjoyed the stories for quite a while. Hope it’s not the last.
And as always, thanks for reading!
*Although I have a story coming out in the next F&SF, “Lunokhod Dance,” that is a loose sequel to a previous F&SF story, “Number Nine Moon.”
