Even if this is going to be another season of futility for the Tigers,* Opening Day is one of my favorite days of the year. It’s also (if I do say so myself) a perfect time to grab yourself a copy of The Comic Book Story of Baseball!

*I saw two of their spring training games, and although they’re not going to be very good, they’ve got some young players to watch. And Miguel Cabrera looked like Miguel Cabrera again, so at least there’s the chance to watch one of the all-time greats continue his march toward 3000 hits and 500 home runs. Assuming he gets there (he’s got 2676 hits and 465 homers now), that will make him only the 7th player in the history of the game to do it.
